In October 2015, DOBOT launched a Kickstarter campaign for it first generation of desktop robotic arm called DOBOT, and ultimately raised $650,000, far exceeding its initial funding goal. Ever since then, DOBOT has witnessed a soaring period of rapid development and to. In just three years, DOBOT has expanded its product system by releasing DOBOT Magician, DOBOT M1, DOBOT Mooz, DOBOT SR industrial series, etc., reaching customers in education, business and industry.
No matter what achievements and progress DOBOT has made in these years, its founder, Jerry Liu, has never forgotten his original intention, which is to bring robots into the whole world and into the lives of ordinary people by breaking the limits of technology and borders. History
- July 2015, DOBOT was officially established by Jerry Liu and six of his classmates in robotics engineering.
- Sep. 2015, The first DOBOT robotic arm made a splash on Kickstarter, the world’s leading crowdfunding website, with the world’s first desktop intelligent robotic arm
- Aug. 2016, DOBOT Magician was officially unveiled as an updated version of the first-generation robotic arm.
- Oct. 2016, DOBOT M1, the lightweight human-machine cooperation robotic arm was released at the Hannover Messe in Germany.
- Dec. 2016, DOBOT received its Series A funding, ready to expand its market share and address more challenges in the future.
- Oct. 2017, DOBOT launched a multi-functional modular 3D printer – DOBOT Mooz, which is capable of 3D printing, laser engraving and CNC carving.
- Nov. 2017, DOBOT Magician won the CES2018 Innovation Award.
- Jan. 2018, Both DOBOT Magician and DOBOT Mooz won the German iF Design Award.
- Mar. 2018, Both DOBOT Magician and the DOBOT Mooz won the German Red Dot Award.
- Jun. 2018, DOBOT completed its Series A+ financing, becoming one of the most valuable robotics startups in the country.
- Sep. 2018, DOBOT released more than 10 different industrial robotic arm demos in Shanghai CIIF, featuring all-perception, 3D vision, man-machine cooperation, voice control etc.
So far, DOBOT has set up several branches in Shandong, Shanghai, the United States etc., further expanding its worldwide footprint and reaching out for more than 100,000 users. DOBOT has built more than 40 main distributing centers around the world and is way ahead in the robotic arm industry. Core Technologies
Key members of DOBOT development team all graduated from well-known domestic and foreign universities, including Shandong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and MIT, and worked in famous enterprises like ABB and Huawei. DOBOT did all the research and development on its own in major technological areas like vision, controlling, drivers, and the robotic body. DOBOT is the one and only enterprise in the country that utilizes fully self-developed encoders, controllers, and drivers to support the multiple-in-one servo driver technology. Main products of DOBOT have achieved high precision of 0.2mm at a reasonable cost.
In terms of qualification and patents, DOBOT has passed ISO9001 quality management system, ISO14001 environmental management system and GB/T29490 intellectual property management system certification. DOBOT has always adhered to independent innovation. Up to now, it has more than 260 intellectual property rights in the field of robotics, including 9 international invention patents (PCT), 140 Chinese patents, 39 software copyrights, and 72 registered trademarks, covering the world’s top 40 economies.

Through years’ dedication in the robotic industry, DOBOT has developed several amazing products, which have drawn the attention of famous companies and organizations from all over the world. DOBOT robotic arms have showcased at various important occasions, like the Google I/O, the 23rd Korea PyeongChang Winter Olympics and CCTV online Spring Festival Gala in 2017 and 2018. Besides, DOBOT has cooperated with renowned companies including Volkswagen, Tencent Cloud and Alibaba in smart factories, robots and artificial intelligence.
In January 2017, DOBOT cooperated with Alibaba’s Aliyun to write Spring Festival couplets and demonstrate the integration of modern technology and traditional culture. Four months later in May, DOBOT Magician appeared at Google I/O as the only Chinese product. Enhanced by Google TPU2 and TensorFlow, DOBOT Magician successfully showed practical applications like sorting candies of the latest technologies in the field of image and speech recognition and machine learning. At the end of 2017, DOBOT Magician was utilized in Volkswagen production line with Siemens PLC to perform automatic manufacturing, which would be shown in the training of Volkswagen new workers. DOBOT also established strategic ties with Tencent Cloud to build smart factory together and featured a calligraphy performance in the CCTV New Year’s Gala broadcast, drawing further publicity.
